Noah Walker - Club 1683 Member

Noah Walker, AIA AP is the principal architect and founder of the firm Walker Workshop, a Los Angeles based design-build firm. Established in 2010 with the purpose of creating modern structures that are “warmly minimal”, the firm is known for its careful consideration of maximizing light and space, amplifying the unique qualities of each project’s location.

Critical to the firm’s mission is the notion that a space, thoughtfully executed, can elevate the body and mind of its inhabitants.

One of Walker’s first projects, the Oak Pass House gained international acclaim winning “Home of the Year’ in 2016 as well as being included in the Arch Daily 100, a list of the 100 most important works of architecture in the United States. “For us, a key measure of success is to design and build our projects with the expectation they will outlast us. These buildings are heirlooms to be passed on for generations.” As a result, core to the firm’s work is ensuring the use of materials, products and finishes that are substantial and meaningful.

“In this era of ever more seductive visual tools, we prefer substance. Our finished work should speak for itself.”

Rooted in Craft

Walker Workshop, a licensed general contractor as well as a design and architecture firm, cares deeply about the practical responsibility of making buildings. As a result, the firm has cultivated an “ethos of creative ownership for all phases of the work – from initial concept through to project completion.”

Employing various artisans and craftspeople in the construction of Walker Workshop projects is part of the magic of the firms technique. “Very often we hold the design of certain elements to much later in the design process. This allows us to use the cues we see in the project itself as an inspiration. Since we are often also the builder, we can be nimble even carrying out the work ourselves.”

As a member of Gaggenau Club 1683 in the US, Walker appreciates the opportunity to learn more about the nuances of each product. “I also enjoy the chance to be invited in to discuss and have conversations about how to evolve and advance already amazing ideas. This spirit of collaboration with the Gaggenau marketing and product teams is pretty special. My team also really values the Gaggenau concierge connection. This is an incredible service, helping navigate details we might otherwise miss.”
