Five years ago in the quiet suburb of Summerlin, Kseniya and her husband stood on a plot of land overlooking downtown Las Vegas, and decided this was going to be home. That summer they began the three year process of purchasing, designing and building an exceptional house.

Kseniya explains, “It was a very uncertain time. We decided to move to Las Vegas from Dallas to build our dream house and we came across this amazing community and we just fell in love with the lot that we have. One side has the strip, one side has mountains, and we just knew this was right for us. So, we pulled the trigger in the summer of 2020, and it was a pretty long process. When you have to build everything from the ground up, there are a lot of challenges that you came across. But it was a very rewarding process as well, and we’re very happy in our home.”

“We really wanted to build a contemporary home that still feels very soft, I would say, and very welcoming. We wanted to have a big family and to build something that’s cozy and embracing, but still with a lot of clean lines and a modern feel to it.”

Inspired by designs from Europe and Southern California, they worked with Fabiola Avelino to realize their vision. “She was our designer, and she helped throughout the whole process with choosing all the finishes, furniture and decor as well. She was involved early on with our builder and the architect and helped us design every detail of the home.”

Planning on several pairs of little feet running around the home, Kseniya and her husband wanted to be able to have a family area for everyone to relax in, while also creating a distinctly more grandiose entertainment area. “We designed our house in a way where we have the kitchen and the family room very close together. So that’s where we gather as a family and spend most of our time cooking and talking and watching movies, hanging out. And then, we have a separate space, a formal living room and a bar where we do most of the entertaining of our guests.”

“The heart of the home is definitely our kitchen.” The expansive walls of dark wood cabinetry, stone tile flooring and striking, back-lit, translucent and black stone island ensure the modern, sharp, clean lines are softened by the warm, organic materials. The large space opens out past a dining table into a sumptuous family room. It is a space of such size that the 30 inch Gaggenau appliances feel proportionally perfect.
All 400 series, the oven and combi-steam oven, coffee machine and culinary warming drawer, full surface induction cooktop and refrigerators enhance both the aesthetics and cuisine.
